First Finished Object of 2012!

January 21, 2012

I actually finished these on New Years Day. But then I looked at them and thought that I had knit two of the wrong side because both thumbs seemed to be on the left (or is it right?) side. I started knitting mitten #3 and realized I had gone too far without starting the thumb gusset… and then it dawned on me that these aren’t the sort of mittens that have left/right sides. I just needed to shift the mitten around so it looked right! We’ll call that pregnancy brain at work (yes… a new baby is coming in May).

Siggi showed me that they actually were correct when he got out of bed with a bad dream last night.

The mittens are Chicky Feet Mittens from Flying Geese and Partridge Feet. I used Brown Sheep Superwash sport yarn.

Finished UFO in 2011

January 13, 2012

I wanted to make 2011 a year to work on UFOs, but I didn’t get a lot of knitting time. I did manage to finish a sweater I started for Siggi before he outgrew it.

Móa was missing seeing pictures of him, so here’s a shot we managed to take of him. Toddler photography is harder than animal photography.

The pattern is Yankee Knitter Mock Cable Sweater. I actually used this pattern to make a cardigan for my oldest. The yarn is from Farmhouse Yarns and was something we bought when I was pregnant with him.

Let’s see if 2012 helps finish any UFOs. I almost had a finished (new) project on January 1, but then I realised that I had knit two left (or is it right) mittens, so now I have two more mittens to knit to call that done.
